Wine Country inspired, perched high above the Delaware River, this one-of-a-kind venue provides stunning sunset views with a frequent hot air balloon sighting. Sand Castle Winery makes all of their wines only from their own, 100% Vinifera grapes. Grape vines planted in rocky soils mingled together with the moderate temperatures of the Delaware River produce only the most ideal fruit for wine making.
Joseph and Paul Maxian came to America and introduced America to high-quality, distinguished wines derived from the best European wine making customs. The Maxians knew centuries earlier that William Penn recognized that Pennsylvania held enormous opportunities for wine making, as Penn even created his own vineyard on the banks of the Schuylkill River.
Back in 1974, Paul and Joseph Maxian purchased a hillside property in Bucks County which overlooked the Delaware River to construct the Sand Castle Winery. In the early 1980s, they began the initial construction of the winery’s building. After decades of continuous effort, their project was finally finished. Today, customers can visit their tasting room to sample and buy superior wines, as well as enjoy guided tours of the castle and winery.
