About the Building
Character, charm, and historic all describe this Princeton gem. Cloister Inn, Princeton’s 16th eating club was founded in 1912 as one of Princeton University’s dining clubs, and the building on 65 Prospect Ave. was constructed in 1924. Cloister Inn is one of the popular undergraduate eating clubs at Princeton University and is based in a neo-Gothic building on Prospect Avenue, between Cap and Gown Club and Charter Club.
The Inn is fully furnished with several amenities that have made it a fantastic location to dine in for members and visitors alike.
Cloister Inn has a number of amenities including a(n):
- Elegant dinner hall overlooking the backyard
- Outside patio with 8 tables each with umbrellas for sunny or rainy days
- Entertainment with games along with 2 pool tables
- Tap room downstairs with easy entrance to the patio
- Library stocked with carrel-style desks, sofas, and a conference table suited for various types of meetings.
- Tech room with 4 brand new computers
- TV room with a 60" TV and leather sofas that can accommodate up to twenty people. They also have 2 other TVs located in the Inn.
- Large balcony with 3 tables for meals or any other social activity
- MP3 music jukebox that holds over 12,000 songs
- Wireless internet access is available all over the Inn
Cloister Inn provides the perfect setting for any event. Catering is provided by Savoir Fare and Alan Aptner—Cloister’s head chef and club steward who has guided the club for over 25 years by consistently amazing guests with the quality and selection of food. Savoir Fare has been serving clientele in the Princeton area for over 20 years. Together, their talents have been acclaimed not only by their clients, but also by the New York Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer. Savoir Fare offers complete party coordination including music, flowers and photography.
